The Sermon on the Mount, Day 18

Read Matthew 5:21-26 and do the exercises below:

  • Think of one person you tend to have anger or contempt for.
  • Anger typically comes from fear. What about this person causes you to be fearful? What are you protecting by being angry?
  • How can your anger with this person affect your participation in God’s Kingdom? How can your participation in God’s Kingdom help you to be safe in a relationship with this person?
  • What actions would it take to be reconciled?
  • Find someone you trust and think is wise, and talk to them about this particular relationship. Do they think it would be good to be reconciled? Are there deeper things to be considered before attempting to be reconciled? With this person’s help, prayerfully decide how to proceed.
