The Sermon on the Mount, Day 50

The Sermon on the Mount, Day 50

Today is the last day of our journey through the Sermon on the Mount. You’ve spent almost 2 months reading and reflecting on the most important teachings of the most important person to walk the earth. Now is your chance to reflect on the big picture:

  • What are some of the most important lessons you took from this?
  • How did this change your perception of Jesus and his teachings?
  • How will The Sermon on the Mount affect your practice of Christian faith from here on?
  • Find someone to partner with and share your reflections. Talk about how you can help each other continue your journey of following Christ.

  1. Thanks for the effort you put in to making this study, Jason. I’ve appreciated following along and being able to use it with our community.

  2. Much thanks from me too. I know I didn’t say much this last half but I’ve been check’n in and learning on my own. Through this study I saw things in the sermon on the mount that I had not seen before and the lessons that I took time to post in I know I learned more. Over all I just feel like I have a fresh understanding of these passages. One lesson you challenged us to share what we are learning with others, so I started talking to me 8 and 10 year old girls about it and sometimes I’d read them the portion from the bible. We hadn’t been getting them to read out of the bible much until now, and something we studied encouraged me to make a habit with them too. Now they each have a bible reading plan one of my 8 year old’s wants to read through the whole bible starting at Genesis(she’s at chapter 23 in Genesis already- I think). My 10 year old is reading as much of Psalm as she can in 6 weeks(she’s at 35 with 3 weeks to go). Studying the bible seems to be contagious these days :) Jesus is awesome!
All the best with your new church community in California, I can see that you’re going to be very effective in the kingdom, if your actions are in line with your teachings, which I am sure they are.
    In the love of Jesus,
    Cindy

  3. ahh…the BIG picture. For me I would sum up this study as a lesson on practicing relationship with God. Realizing that it is not so much my “works” that matter to God but my heart. That has in no small way set me free from guilt over not doing enough to focusing MORE on what IS important to God. I believe that is loving others as He loves through my attitudes, actions and thoughts. The more time I spend seeking Him in relationship through prayer and the study of his word the better able I am to carry this out.
