Galatians, Day 4

Galatians, Day 4

April 22, 2010 |  by Jason Coker  |  Exercises, Scripture  |  , , ,

Today, read Galatians 2:1-10 alongside Acts 15:1-35.

Questions:

  • How does the Acts 15 passage clarify the controversy of Galatians for you?
  • After Acts 15, what would you say is the “freedom” Paul is referring to in Gal 2:4? What is it freedom from, exactly? What isn’t it freedom from?

  1. It seems like the Christian Jews were only concerned about keeping one law for new gentile believers, that of circumcision but if all new gentile believers were asked to keep this law then what would stop the Christian Jews from requiring new believers to keep all the laws making what Christ did on the cross and resurrection irrelevant. Paul says that because of what Christ did and the Holy Spirit that now lives in us as believers we are free from these Jewish laws but we are to take care of the poor, live moral lives especially regarding sex and marriage, do not worship any other idols and do not offend anothers religious beliefs.
